Why do people fear.
Is fear a positive or negative phenomenon? Why do we need to overcome fear?
Fear is a natural human response to perceived danger, this is a simple definition of fear. If it is a natural response, then, why should we bother trying to overcome fear. It is because most of the time the natural response to fear can be very dangerous, harmful and always a negative reaction. However there are some good in fear, at least sometimes it keeps us alive, keeps us from jumping down from 15 storey buildings.
Other definition of fear are:
An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain..

A distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid

Why we need to Overcome Fear


FEAR is actually a a False Evideince Appearing Real. This is a perfect acronym for fear that actually describes what fear really is and the reason why we must overcome fear.

What causes fear are ?
1. An anticipation of pain on the occurrence of something
2. An anticipation of loss
3. The Unknown- Fear of what has not yet happened.
4. An imaginative evil picture of what will happen
Most of the time, what we fear is not what has happened but what will happen and what we imagine will be the outcome of it. However, nobody is given the power to know what will be the outcome of event s that are yet to happen, why then do we always anticipate a false result. We love relation past experiences, others experience to judge the outcome of our own experience. Just because a close friend was attacked while driving through broadstreet and he lost his live, you begin to avoid passing through broadstreet despite the fact that it’s your best route and it actually is a busy street.

Steps to take to Overcome Fear

1. Positive Thinking- We cannot underestimate the power of positive thinking. If you anticipate good always, you will always attract good things. Overcome your fear by thinking in a different way on the things you greatly fear most. For example, if you have the fear of water, you can begin by telling yourself, water is good, say it from time to time, tkae friends out to beach, gather them around and play with them around with the water, do not do this alone. Repeat this often times and in no time, you will find out that your fear has no basis.
2. Share your fears with a friend or a specialist and showthat you really desire to overcome fear in your life.
3. Believe that even if you fall, you will always rise again. So with this mindset, you can have a go at any challenge and overcome fear.

To overcome fear, you need to take proactive steps and be specific on the type of fear you want to overcome, it may be fear of heights, fear of water, fear of approaching a woman, fear of disorder. Then apply the steps to overcome fear highlighted above.
